Johnny Elssasser, former U.S. Army Ranger from the 2nd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He deployed four times between Iraq and Afghanistan, spanning the positions of private, S.A.W. Gunner, Team Leader, and Squad Leader throughout his service. He also spent five years working for a private contractor protecting the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq as the Tactical Commander, spanning three different U.S. Ambassadors. Once he was no longer fighting for his flag, his life fell apart, and he took ownership of his role in the failure of his marriage, finding his new purpose and life outside the military. He realized he was not alone in this struggle. Using the camaraderie style of the military, he formed The Wildman Experience, the Elite Man Community, and his signature Art of Masculinity Podcast. Johnny answers the following.
1. You said, "The world deserves a better caliber of man, and it's our responsibility to give it to them." What do you mean by "a better caliber of man."
2. Johnny, you are Ex military, and you went through some physical and emotional challenges after leaving the military and with your divorce. The data suggests this is common for vets and retired military, but it is a problem for men in general. How does the Wildman Experience solve or address this issue?
3. You wrote a book, Design the Man Within. Who would benefit the most from that read, and without giving away the content, what can a reader look forward to when they grab a copy?
4. You have a Jason Mamoa vibe to your look with the sleeve tattoo and the man bun. You are clearly into fitness as well. When you moved back to civilian life, how did fitness fit into your lifestyle overhaul, and how important is the fitness component in your program as you help men become a better caliber of themselves?
5. What's the deal with the pig on your I.G. page? Is that your mascot or your next meal?
6. Men are usually unwilling to ask for directions or help in general. In the military, there is structure, camaraderie, and a strong sense of purpose. How do you help to recreate that in the civilian space? Even more importantly, how do we get men to be willing to seek you for guidance and not try to D.I.Y. their life? Most die with significant regret and many undone wishes. Even if they are aware, what have you found helps them to be willing to receive coaching and mentorship?
7. Give us a case study overview of the before and after transformation of someone you worked with.
8. Now, women watch my show. Women are often willing to seek help and point our men toward it. Speak to the women first, do some mansplaining, and tell us how to recognize if our men need your help.
9. Is there anything else you would like to share?
